What a great day! The Friends of Tri-Valley Foundation held their 27th golf tournament at Fredonia Golf club on Saturday, July 24th. Even though temperatures were in the 80’s and 90’s, we could not have asked for a more perfect day to play 18 holes of golf. Play began at 9 am with nine teams.
The tournament had two flights. The winners for A Flight were: 1st Place - the team of Kent Marr, Cooper Steiner, Albert Gulick, and Isaac Boone; and 2nd Place - the team of Jerry Scott, Ethan Woodcock, Steve Osborn, and Jake Mrkwa.
The winners for B Flight were: 1st Place – the team of Jake Scott, Michael Hatcher, Wally Maples, and Mike Prince and 2nd Place - the team of Mike Claus, Bart Carpenter, Tyler Pierce, and Chad Estes.
Along with the two flights, prizes were handed out for the Longest Drive (which went to Jared Fiscus) and Closet to the Pin (which went to Tyler Pierce).
Door prizes were given out to several lucky golfers. The door prizes were given by local businesses, such as Hugo’s Industrial Supply, Heartstrings, Wilson County Hair and Spa, Connie Shiverdecker State Farm, and Sonic Drive In of Fredonia. Lunch was sponsored by Newkirk, Dennis & Buckles and was catered by AJ’s Pit BBQ.
All money raised from the event goes toward the Foundation’s mission of providing quality and affordable homes as well as aid in the delivery of services for our neighbors with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the eight counties of Allen, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson. The Foundation currently has two homes located in Elk County and two homes located in Wilson County. Tri-Valley Developmental Services serves 244 individuals in the eight county region and has service centers located in Eureka, Moline, and Neodesha.
“Without the generosity of our communities, this fun event could not have been held. Thank you to all the golfers who participated as well as to our event sponsors: corporate, hole, and in-kind. It is friends like you that allow us to provide services to our neighbors with I/DD and to help them achieve the quality of life they seek. Thank you” stated Special Projects Coordinator, Tricia Campbell.
