Inaugural Fall Classic a Success

Saturday, September 14th was a perfect day for the Friends of Tri-Valley Foundation to hold their inaugural Fort Scott Golf Classic. The Tournament was held at the beautiful Woodland Hills Golf Course in Fort Scott. It was fantastic golfing weather; a light breeze, 80-degree temperatures and not a cloud in the sky.

Play began at 9 am with 15 teams. Prizes were given out to 1st and 2nd places in A and B Flights. The winners were:

A Flight 1st Place went to the team of John Leek, Josh Query, Jon Allen, and Tim Allen

A Flight 2nd Place went to the Fort Scott Community College team with Adam Borth, Kirk Sharp, Jeff Tadtman, and Bill Thompson;

B Flight 1st Place went to the City of Fort Scott with Ryan Collier, William Uhler, David Uhler, and Robert Uhler; and

B Flight 2nd Place went to the Peerless team with David Marsh, Larry Baker, Billy Masters, and Chuck Hull, .

Along with the two flights, prizes were handed out for the Longest Drive which went to Jon Allen

and Closest to the Pin which went to Mark Ward.

Players were also given the opportunity to try their chances with the “Trouble” Hole in One game. On hole 2, players also could participate in the Paul Bunyon hole game; in which players move up 150’ yards from the tee box. A putting contest was also held.

At the end of the tournament, nineteen door prizes were given out to several lucky golfers. The door prizes included; igloo coolers, umbrellas, Bluetooth Speaker, Gift Certificates to Miller Feed, The Butcher Block, Sharkey’s, La Hacienda, and Grand Country Music Hall in Branson.

All money raised from the event will go towards the Foundation’s mission of providing quality and affordable homes for our neighbors with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the four SE Kansas counties of Allen, Bourbon, Neosho, and Woodson. The foundation has recently purchased their newest home in Fort Scott. An open house will be planned shortly.

Thank you to all the golfers who participated as well as to our event sponsors: corporate, hole, and in-kind.
