Friends of Tri-Valley Holds Golf Tournament in Fredonia
On Saturday, July 23rd, the Friends of Tri-Valley Foundation held their annual golf tournament at the Fredonia Golf Club. Even though the temperatures hovered in the upper 90’s, we could not have asked for more prefect weather. The morning had a light breeze that made the weather exactly right to play 18 holes of golf. Play began at 9 am with six teams.
The tournament had two flights. A Flight teams were 1st place –
Rick Cunningham, Kent Marr, Rick Jensen, and Jim Dart,
2nd place – Hayden Vallier, Trent Vallier, Stan Vallier, and Russ Vallier;
and 3rd place – Bill Fiscus, Jake Fiscus, Dillon Wolverton, and Jared Fiscus,
B Flight teams were
1st place – Jason Stout, Camden Cunningham, Jake Miller, and Sam Ayer;
2nd Place – Mike Prince, Wally Maples, Michael Hatcher, and Jake Scott;
and 3rd place – Joel Porter and Kiz Porter. Rick Jensen won both the Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive Contests. On Hole 1, we offered the hole game of “Trouble” Hole In One.
Door prizes were given out to several lucky golfers. The door prizes were given by local businesses, such as Hugo’s Industrial Supply, Downtown Grill – Fredonia, Heartstrings: A Flower Boutique – Fredonia, Eureka Garden and Floral, G & W of Eureka, and A-Lert Construction. Lunch sponsored by Newkirk, Dennis & Buckles featured hamburger, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and all the fixings. Our grill master was grilled by Neil Kisner, Maintenance Coordinator for Tri-Valley Developmental Services.
The event’s corporate sponsors were Heartland HomeCare; Newkirk, Dennis & Buckles; Community National Bank of Eureka; and Wilson County Title. Our hole sponsors were A-Lert Construction; Bank of Commerce – Neodesha; Finley Lawn and Pest; Fredonia Medical Center; Indy Print Services; and Neodesha Family Dentistry. Wilson County Medical Center and Sonic Drive-In of Fredonia were sponsors for the goodie bags.
All profits raised from the event go towards the Foundation’s mission of providing quality and affordable homes as well as aid in the delivery of services for our neighbors with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the eight counties of Allen, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson. Tri-Valley services 244 individuals in the eight-county region with service centers located in Eureka, Moline and Neodesha.
“Without the generosity of our communities, this fun event could not have been held. Thank you to all the golfers who participated as well as to our event sponsors: corporate, hole, and in-kind. It is friends like you that allow us to provide services to our neighbors with I/DD and to help them achieve the quality of life they seek. Thank you” stated Special Projects Coordinator, Tricia Campbell.
